It’s almost time for our annual lunch lecture again! On the 21st of September we have organized a very interesting speaker for you:

Dr Febe van Maldegem is group leader in the Department of Molecular Cell Biology & Immunology. Her work focusses on the complex role of the tumour microenvironment in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), crucial for mediating anti-tumour immunity, but more frequently imposing resistance to therapy. She wil tell you all there is to know about “The tumour microenvironment: not just a bag of cells.” Non-cancer cells infiltrating the tumour are thought to strongly influence cancer progression and responses to therapy. But how do they influence each other? Deciphering the local cellular neighbourghoods may be the key to understanding.

[:en]The fun tradition of the annual Looping Louie competition is coming soon again! You’ll get the opportunity to show off with your teammate and the best team will win a prize. This fun game is very simple: use Louie the pilot to knock down the chickens of your opponent and try to protect your own!

Sign you and your teammate up at the borrel from 17:00 and of course a fun team name can’t be missed!

It is almost that time of the year again. The most beautiful and beloved bar of the VU, De Tegenstelling, will be opening its doors again on September 7th! On this day you will truly experience a Wednesdayborrel with the most ‘gezellige’ people, create memories with (new) friends to cherish forever and of course drink the tastiest drinks we have to offer.

We have good news and we have bad news. The bad news is that the end of the Gyrinus season is near. The good news is that we will celebrate the end of the academic year with the Last Stelling Eve! During this evening a wonderful Indonesian rice table will be served by a group of employees of the VU! You can sign up for this dinner via Gyrinus.nl/lse2022. Dear Gyrini,

We’ve already arrived at our last excursie this year: our famous bird excursion!

On the 13th of June 18.30 we will meet at Landje van Geijsel for a nice picknick, an evening full of beautifull birds and ofcourse, your fellow Gyrini. What else can you whish for? Experienced biologist who will guide you during this free activity? Say no more, we got this.
