Musselmeal!

After 2 years of absence, it’s time to dive into the depths of the sea again! The Musselmeal is back on the 30th of November! Tasty, nutritious and low in sodium and saturated fat, mussels provide a readily absorbed source of B & C vitamins, amino acids, Omega 3 fatty acids, and vital minerals including iron, manganese, phosphorus, potassium, selenium and zinc, so while you are having a lot of fun, you are also being healthy! Not only will we serve mussels, but our specialist’s will also choose a fantastic wine to combine with the mussels. For people with allergies for mussels, fish is available. The summer is officially over now, temperatures are dropping, leaves are falling from the trees and we have some rainy days ahead of us. That can mean only one thing: Autumn’s coming. But don’t be sad, every cloud has a silver lining: The BockBeerBorrel!
On the 14th of October, our beloved pub will be transferred into an autumn paradise.
The Alcoholaat wants to welcome you in the Tegenstelling to come and enjoy 6 carefully selected and delicious bock beers. I hear you think: ‘But what if I get hungry?’ Well, there will be a delicious serving of the authentic Alcoholaat stew to satisfy your appetite. Let this evening be the beacon of light during these rainy autumn days! And the best thing is that the evening we have all been waiting for, is already in 3 weeks. So, we do not have to wait for long!

Vondelpark Clean-Up

The time has arrived as we can finally do fun activities together again! What better way to kick off the new academic year by reducing the pollution in our environment together.
 
Amsterdam’s beautiful Vondelpark is an attraction for all, but after a day in the sun, trash and litter are often left behind. To help reduce this waste problem, the Actcie has organized another fun Vondelpark clean-up activity on September 20th (14:00 – 15:30 h)!

It’s almost time for our annual lunch lecture again! On the 21st of September we have organized a very interesting speaker for you:

Dr Febe van Maldegem is group leader in the Department of Molecular Cell Biology & Immunology. Her work focusses on the complex role of the tumour microenvironment in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), crucial for mediating anti-tumour immunity, but more frequently imposing resistance to therapy. She wil tell you all there is to know about “The tumour microenvironment: not just a bag of cells.” Non-cancer cells infiltrating the tumour are thought to strongly influence cancer progression and responses to therapy. But how do they influence each other? Deciphering the local cellular neighbourghoods may be the key to understanding.

[:en]The fun tradition of the annual Looping Louie competition is coming soon again! You’ll get the opportunity to show off with your teammate and the best team will win a prize. This fun game is very simple: use Louie the pilot to knock down the chickens of your opponent and try to protect your own!
