Dear Gyrini,

We are entering already a new season and chapter of the year: September. It marks the quiet shift from the summer's freedom to the rhythm of routine. The summer haze wears off, and suddenly you remember what structure feels like after a long time without one. It is the start of a new academic year with new notebooks, agendas and eternal promise to "stay on top of readings this time'' (spoiler: you won't).

Universities come alive again like a Sims game that’s been unpaused. Campuses fill with hopeful first-years trying to find their lecture halls (and pretending they’re not lost), while returning students walk around like seasoned war veterans — caffeine in hand, eyes full of memories.

But beyond the chaos, September also brings new energy with a chance to start again. Whether you're chasing deadlines or chasing memories, we hope you find a little balance, a lot of laughter, and the motivation to enjoy the ride. Here's to another year full of learning, growing, and maybe, just maybe, opening your study materials before the night of the exam;))

On behalf of the 72nd board,
Esmijn Vroegop

Laura

Our lovely chair just returned from a well-deserved vacation to her home island, the Azores. Before that, she spent two intense weeks working 24/7 at a camp—entertaining children, herding chaos, and somehow surviving the glitter and glue. Now she’s back, ready to kick off (and eventually wrap up) her board year by preparing her board members and successor for all the upcoming activities and tasks.

Timo
And then we have our amazing secretary also known as our resident Kochmanschaft fanatic. He spent most of his summer hard at work, grinding through the weeks while the rest of us were sipping cocktails and beers. But eventually, he escaped with his girlfriend on a getaway rumored to be pretty close to heaven. We won’t ask, but the stories might be worth hearing (he might be willing to fill you in, if you’re lucky.) He ended his summer with a blast during intro, proudly repping the cookingsquad (no I will not say the other name again bye). He brought the energy to introcamp too, going all out and showing everyone how it's done. Now he's back, ready to tackle board life with the same wild spirit (just maybe with a little less beer).
Esmijn
The very treasurer aka money bitch of the association is back at it again (already working on her final monthly newsletter!). She had an amazing summer, spending most of her time at work, but also enjoying the vibes at Lowlands festival with her sister (the chick on the right in the photo). She wrapped up her summer on a high note at the intro as a proud Barplough member, backed by an amazing team. Now ready to make activities great again (as Trump would like to call it).
Joshua

Our Joshua had quite the summer! After moving out of his student room, he spent some well-deserved time relaxing at his parents’ place embracing the art of chilling (and probably enjoying the free food while he was at it). But the chill didn’t last forever! He jumped right back into action as a mentor during Intro and brought his A-game to introcamp, where he played a role in the murder game. Safe to say, he left quite the impression both as a mentor and as a mysterious suspect.

Kim

After a hectic year, this busy woman definitely earned her vacation. She finally had time to relax, enjoy life, and spend some quality time with her boyfriend. She even made her way to la bella ITALY sipping Aperol Spritz in the sun and (hopefully) enjoying a few night-time adventures too… ?. But even on break, Kim couldn’t resist getting involved; she took on a role in the Master’s Intro, helping welcome new master students into the association. Now she’s back and ready to work her butt off with her master’s studies, all while being the go-to contact for every committee.

Dora
This woman had the time of her life back in her home country, the Czech Republic. But even home wasn't her only destination as she also explored Montenegro (and if I remember correctly also other places). Despite being on vacation, she still managed to stay involved with Intro and board duties. Thanks to all her efforts, Intro was a big success and everything ran smoothly. Now, with her bachelor's degree officially completed (yaaasss!!), she can fully focus on board tasks and making sure everything is in place. She's also meeting with her successor to ensure a smooth transfer and keep the momentum going.
